Solar Power | EP 60

Posted by on

Hello Everybody! Welcome back to the Bolton Ebikes Podcast. I'm Kyle, your host and the owner of Bolton Ebikes. Today I want to talk about something that I know everyone thinks about, but nobody's really sure if it makes sense. And that is solar charging.

In today’s episode you’ll learn more about:

  • Where solar charging could be applied and how you might apply that to electric bikes.
  • Why on a small scale with ebikes, it may not make sense due to the ROI.
  • Options for charging your ebike when out camping with your RV.
  • Why would it be beneficial to have a replacement battery, irregardless of solar?
  • How we have been working on a solar charger the some of the strategic planning we’ve been implementing.
  • What to consider when being able to get efficient with solar charging and why that is very important for a positive outcome.
  • And so much more!

Thanks again for listening to the Bolton Ebikes Podcast, a podcast, all about ebikes that comes up every single Tuesday. I appreciate all of you for listening. If you are new or if you stumbled across this podcast episode first, make sure to go check out some of the other episodes.

  • Great discussion.
I look forward to future updates. Jim Turner, Optibike Electric Bikes, has been in the high end electric bike business for a long while. His latest video, “The Infinite Range Solar Powered Optibike” (https://youtu.be/Fe_hnwQwDmY) shows a real example that he is testing. I would like to hear Kyle and Jim get into the weeds on this subject or anything else ebike related.
    Thanks, Dale

  • great info on solar charging possibilities. Currently I haul a 200 watt fold out 12 volt panels, a heavy deep cycle rv battery and an inverter to charge my ebike 48 volt battery. A lot of heavy gear could be eliminated with a 12 volt to 48 volt charging device using only solar panels. Put me at the top of the list when you get this going! thanks for your research…dennis

  • This subject is something I’m considering and doing a bit of ‘homework’ on. Thanks Kyle, best.
